In the last few days, a lot has happened on Mozilla.org getan:

• Opera and the Mozilla Foundation have released a Position Paper for the W3C Workshop on Web Applications and Compound Documents. The paper stresses the value of open standards, backwards compatibility and well-defined error handling. I could sign the paper the way it is. (via Glazblog)
• Camino 0.8beta for MacOS X has been released. It is based on the current Mozilla and contains better bookmark and cookie management, the download manager and Type Ahead Find (and more). Read more in the release notes.
• The milestone schedule for Mozilla has been changed: Now there are two alphas (instead of one), and the final cycle will be shorter. There will always be at least one release candidate.
• Mozilla 1.8alpha1 has been released. New: the FTP upload and an improved spam filter (and more). Read more in the release notes, in the README and in the rough changelog.
• Firefox und Thunderbird now have an own CVS branch based on the Mozilla 1.7 branch. Firefox and Thunderbird will come from this branch until they reach 1.0.

In den letzten Tagen hat sich einiges bei Mozilla.org getan:

• Opera und die Mozilla-Foundation haben zusammen ein Positionspapier für den W3C-Workshop über Web-Applikationen und Komponenten-Dokumente veröffentlicht. Das Papier betont den Wert von Offenen Standards, Abwärtskompatibilität und wohldefinierter Fehlerbehandlung. Ich könnte das Dokument so unterschreiben. (vom Glazblog)
• Camino 0.8beta für MacOS X ist herausgekommen. Diese Version basiert auf dem aktuellen Mozilla und enthält unter anderem eine bessere Bookmark- und Cookie-Verwaltung, den Download-Manager und Type-Ahead-Find. Mehr dazu steht in den Release-Notes.
• Der Milestone-Plan für Mozilla ist geändert worden: Es gibt jetzt zwei Alpha-Zyklen (statt bisher einem), dafür ist der Final-Zyklus kürzer. Es wird immer mindestens einen Release-Kandidaten geben.
• Mozilla 1.8alpha1 ist herausgekommen. Neu sind unter anderem der FTP-Upload und ein besserer Spamfilter. Mehr dazu in den Release-Notes, im README sowie im Rough Changelog.
• Firefox und Thunderbird haben jetzt einen eigenen CVS-Branch, der auf dem 1.7-Branch von Mozilla basiert und von dem dem Firefox und Thunderbird bis zur Version 1.0 kommen werden.
